Kidd Group PR Director Ivette Marques, APR competed with professional Fred Astaire dance partner, Darian Chancellor, in the 2010 American Lung Association’s Oxygen Ball “Dancing with the Local Stars” Competition on Saturday, October 9th. The pair was selected as the winners of the Judge’s Award for best technical dance performance.
“Being part of the Oxygen Ball was an amazing experience – from training with a professional dancer to helping raise money and awareness for the American Lung Association,” said Ivette. “The highlight was performing in front of such an enthusiastic crowd and receiving the Judge’s Award.”
The 3rd annual Oxygen Ball is a fundraiser to benefit the American Lung Association in Florida (ALAF) to continue its Fight for Air. The ALAF works hard to ensure the AIR we breathe is clean and healthy today and for generations to come. Funds from the ball also help pay for asthma camp for children who suffer from asthma across the state. Asthma camp costs around $500 per child.
The “Dancing with the Local Stars” competition is modeled after the popular ABC TV show “Dancing with the Stars.” Six “celebrity” dancers were selected to train with Fred Astaire professional dancers and perform a ballroom dance at the Oxygen Ball. The 2010 line up included: Ivette Marques (Kidd Group), Johanna Money (The Williams Group & Marpan Management Inc.), Greg Tish (GT Entertainment), Elton Gumbel (WCTV), Rosanne Dunkelberger (Tallahassee Magazine) and Woody Hayes (94.9 TNT).
Along with the Judge’s Award, the “Fan Favorite” Award was given to Johanna Money and her professional dance partner Alex Medina for raising the most money for ALAF.
